Who We Are
Recognizing an evolving global interest, the Shawnee Institute embraces the positive effects of the well-being sciences on the human condition.

In a bucolic 200-acre setting along the Delaware River in Shawnee on Delaware, Pennsylvania, the Institute is located on the campus of the historic Shawnee Inn - 70 miles from New York City and 100 miles from Philadelphia.

Here we house globally recognized researchers, teachers, and practitioners - leaders who teach individuals and groups to lead productive, flourishing lives; and trainers who train yet more trainers to bring the measured, repeatable, and scale-able science of well-being to schools, institutions, private and public sector organizations, and governments.

Here we bring together world class thinkers and scholars in combination with current empirical data to address critical global issues.

The Shawnee Institute is close to the city and yet a world away…on the Appalachian trail, bounded by mountains and two islands within the Delaware Water Gap National Recreation Area – a huge National Park, in a river valley where humans have thrived since Paleolithic times.
We offer classrooms, conference rooms, a business center, a theatre, on-site top notch accommodations and farm to table dining for groups of all sizes. Other amenities include a handcrafted brewery, world-class golf, skiing, tennis, an indoor pool, fishing, kayaking, tapped Maple trees, an apiary, extensive working gardens, guided hikes, bonfires,…the list goes on and on.

The Shawnee Institute - an ecosystem for human progress.
